RMT offers
a wide range of geotechnical instrumentation for monitoring
rock displacements around underground excavations and support
loads for tunnel linings and reinforcement systems. We also
provide specialised instruments for determining the in-situ
integrity of reinforcement tendons and for measuring absolute
rock stress and stress change. Our product range includes instruments
and equipment designed and approved for use in hazardous atmospheres.
This includes the m-Comm communication system. Some of
our most popular products are described below. Further product
information can be accessed or downloaded below, and we
would be pleased to provide advice against your specific applications.
RMT also
provides high quality, bespoke geotechnical instrumentation
design, manufacture and installation services. Our installation
and commissioning engineers are trained for confined space and
mine environments.
Instrumented
Rockbolts - used to verify the action of the rock-reinforcement
by monitoring the integrity of the bolts and the strain distribution
within them. We can gauge most types of rockbolt and ground
anchor.
Extensometers
- used to monitor the changes in deformation profile of the
rock mass around an excavation. Our range includes the high
accuracy 'Magnesonic' probe system and remote reading extensometers
for connection to mine and tunnel communication systems. The
sonic probe extensometer is intrinsically safe approved (Ex
ia).
Visual
Telltales - colour-coded indicators of relative movement
within the rock mass. These are primarily safety devices, but
can also be used to measure deformation. They are deployed in
all UK coal mines using rockbolts as the primary support.
Remote
Reading Telltale System - a major development of the mechanical
telltale device to incorporate accurate, stable displacement
measurement electronics and telemetry of the readings to the
surface. The system has ATEX and MSHA intrinsic safety approvals.
Stress
Measurement Equipment - RMT is the sole UK distributor for
the Mindata range of rock stress measurement equipment, including
the industry standard CSIRO Hollow Inclusion Cell. We also supply
vibrating wire strain gauge systems for determining loads in
tunnel and shaft linings. The strain meter is intrinsically
safe approved (Ex ia).
Acoustic
Energy Meter - a handheld instrument which can measure the
integrity and indicate potential delamination and void structural
problems in lined and unlined tunnel surfaces. The instrument
has SABS (Ex ib) and MSHA intrinsically safe approvals.
Specialist
Communication Products - RMT's underground hazardous atmosphere
expertise is now associated with a range of specialist communication
products (m-Comm) for underground, fire and rescue, and confined
space applications. The m-Comm system has Ex ia, MSHA, CSA and
UL intrinsic safety approvals. For further information on the
m-Comm system, use the link below:
